The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), organiser of the 2020 Wimbledon Championships, is insured against coronavirus, having taken out appropriate insurance following the SARS outbreak in 2003.

According to reports in Insurance Business, The Guardian, Insurance Times and The Sunday Times, the Wimbledon organiser is set to net more than £110 million after the club inserted a pandemic clause into its insurance, reportedly paying £1.5 million a year for it.

Stand Out contacted the AELTC for a statement.

It said: “The details of our insurance remain confidential.

“As a global event with significant public attention, we have always sought to purchase the optimum insurance cover available to us.”
