Thorough Events, the company behind the Concours of Elegance, has appointed Andrew Evans as managing director. Evans joins Thorough Events at a period of massive international expansion in the business, bringing with him more than 30 years of event and exhibition experience.
James Brooks-Ward, CEO of Thorough Events, commented: “Andrew helped us enormously with the launch of our latest event this year, the City Concours, achieving in 15 weeks what others couldn’t even have achieved in 15 months. We’re delighted that he’s joining us at such a crucial time in the company’s journey; we have big plans for all of our existing world-class events and a number of brand new shows in the pipeline, too.”
Evans has previously worked in a number of high-profile events and exhibitions roles, including most recently as a divisional managing director of Centaur Media, chief operating officer of Brand Events and managing director of Fresh RM. Evans joins Thorough Events with immediate effect, having consulted on the recent launch of City Concours.
“I’ve been working closely with the team at Thorough Events for a few months now, and I’ve been impressed by their vision and achievements to date,” Evans explained. “The Concours of Elegance, City Concours and Gulf Concours all stand out as world-class classic and performance car events talking to different audiences in different parts of the world. I’m excited to be able to build on these events with the team, and to expand the portfolio worldwide over the coming years.”
Thorough Events has grown continuously since it established the first annual Concours of Elegance in 2012, to honour the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a gathering of 60 of the world’s rarest cars at Windsor Castle. Setting a new global benchmark for a classic car concours, this first event won a number of prestigious awards.
Last year, to complement the Concours of Elegance, Thorough Events launched the Gulf Concours at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. It will be returning again from December 7-9 this year, showcasing the most incredible classics, the best in manufacturer cars and modern bespoke cars of the region.
A new addition to Thorough Events’ portfolio of high-end motoring events, the City Concours took place in the City of London from June 8-9. Hosted at the Honourable Artillery Company, the inaugural event welcomed more than 3,000 people through the doors and a number of high-profile luxury and automotive partners.
