Poor ticket sales has caused the organiser of Southbeats Festival to cancel the event.

The two-day event was due to take place on September 21-22, at St Clare Estate in Sevenoaks – a new venue for the festival this year.

A statement issued by the organiser yesterday, (August 21), said: “We are devastated to announce that due to poor ticket sales, we have been forced to make the very difficult and upsetting decision to cancel Southbeats Festival.

“It has been a very challenging year for us in an ever-growing and competitive festival market, and unfortunately the number of tickets sold at this stage is not strong enough to deliver the standard of event that you, our loyal Southbeats supports, expect and deserve.

“Although historically the majority of our ticket sales have come in the final few weeks, there is no indication to show that sales will increase enough to be able to cover the extremely high costs of producing and running an event of this size, and it is therefore no longer financially viable to continue.

“We would like to apologise to all ticketholders, artists, suppliers, traders and partners for any disappointment and inconvenience this causes.”
