A new “groundbreaking” piece of kit that allows concertgoers to customise their live music experience via augmented audio reality is coming to Europe.
PEEX, the founder of the rX, the wearable device that enables concertgoers to create their own enhanced five channel mix of live concert sound, has revealed that the new technology will be available to use at Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road global tour.
The PEEX Live offering, which comprises the rX wearable device and an accompanying app, allows concertgoers to boost specific elements of the concert sound – for example boosting Elton’s vocals or turning up the guitar solos.
PEEX Live will be powering select dates of the European leg of Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. Kicking off in Vienna, Austria on May 1, the tour will continue into May, June and July across Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Italy, France, Ireland, Spain, Switzerland and the U.K. Fans attending a show will be able to try the PEEX experience by renting out its rX wearable device at the venue or pre-booking it via PEEX’s website.
Pieter Hamelink, chief executive Officer of PEEX, commented: “We are thrilled to be able to showcase our technology to even more fans across Europe. Feedback from the US leg of Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour was overwhelmingly positive, and we are now pleased to take the next step in offering PEEX to European fans. Our special introductory price is designed to attract attending fans to experience a much more immersive and enhanced show.”
Elton John added: “Throughout my 50-year career, playing live has always been so important to me. I am passionate about giving my fans my best possible performance and making sure they get the best possible experience. Over the last four years I’ve been working with the talented team at PEEX, who have developed an incredible new technology that will revolutionise the way fans listen to live music. Make sure you check it out.”
