There’s been a whole host of news this week emerging from across the events industry.

Perhaps the most notable is a new law restricting the use of pyrotechnic articles at music festivals. The Policing and Crime Act 2017 indicates that it is “an offence for a person to have a pyrotechnic article in his or her possession at any time when a person is at a qualifying music event”.

Moreover, two partnerships have been announced this week. The first is between The Open and The Randox Health Grand National; both sporting events will work together to deliver engaging content to fans. The Great Escape has also partnered with BBC Music for a range of events with the festival for new music.

This week, Human Race Events acquired Xtra Mile Events, which organises the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon, ACICS Oulton Park Half Marathon and 10k and Manchester Half Marathon.
