Hi Eventprofs,

Welcome to 2017, hopefully a brighter and better year than the last. If you’ve had a minute to rest over the festive period, then lucky you, but for those out working the Christmas markets or ice rinks, well, there’s no rest for the wicked.

New year, new events industry, as this week we’ve seen the announcement of the world’s first national live music census, which is set to visit seven cities across the UK in March to determine live music’s cultural and economic value.

Moreover, there’s exciting news from Hull UK City of Culture who can report that in its first major event, Made in Hull, attracted more than 342,000 people – getting the year of to a great start. Similarly, the hunt for the UK City of Culture 2021 is on, with Paisley already announcing its bid.

All in all, things are back to normal here at Stand Out magazine, if not a little hectic. However, we have managed to have a giggle this week for #kissagingerday. The ginger in question being our esteemed editor, Caroline, and the man kissing her being a photoshopped Robbie Williams – she still looks so happy though!

So that’s the first blog post of the 2017. As ever, you know where to find us.

Until next week,
