MUTA, the UK’s trade association for marquees and tents, has appointed Dean Foster, managing director of Cambridge Marquees, as its new president.

Foster is the co-owner of Cambridge Marquees and has been hiring marquees and tents across East Anglia for almost 20 years. Cambridge Marquees has been an active MUTA member for almost a decade.

On his appointment Foster commented: “I am honoured to have been elected MUTA President and to follow in the footsteps of many luminaries in our industry. MUTA has such a rich history and I’m determined to make sure it has a prolonged future by helping members through this extremely challenging time.

“MUTA was established in 1919 to keep the industry together and 100 years on that’s my number one priority.”

Foster’s appointment was ratified on May 6 during MUTA’s virtual AGM.

Members in attendance also heard that Simon Bell, director of Custom Covers was standing down from MUTA’s Executive Committee and his position as honorary treasurer after 15 years of service.

Andrew Chalk, operations manager at the association, said: “I’ve worked with Simon for over five years and I have seen first-hand the enormous amount of time and effort he has devoted to the association. Simon has played a pivotal role in the development of MUTA and I would like to extend my sincere thanks on behalf of the membership.”
