Matt Storey, group director – business development at Gallowglass Group, is leaving the business to take up a board position with Media Powerhouse, the AV solutions provider.

Storey joined Gallowglass, the events services provider, in 1998 as a crewman and progressed to crew chief before taking on business development responsibilities. He continued to expand his role as the group diversified and was invited to join the group’s board in 2012.

He said: “After a hugely rewarding 20-year journey with Gallowglass, I’ve decided the time is right to head in a new direction. Having worked with Media Powerhouse as a supplier, I’ve developed an enormous respect for the business and the people behind it. The company has an exceptional reputation for enabling clients to communicate powerfully and creatively with their audiences. I couldn’t be happier to be joining another industry pioneer of such excellent pedigree.”

Media Powerhouse has become a major player in the AV and broadcast presentation business since its formation in 2007. Storey joins industry heavyweights Charles Beddow, chairman, Michael Breen, chief executive officer, and Alan MacDonald, managing director, on the company’s board, and will assume overall responsibility for business development.

Macdonald commented: “Matt is one of the live events industry’s most influential and respected figures. His breadth and depth of industry knowledge, as well as the strength of his relationships with agencies and production houses are second-to-none.

“As our business continues its trajectory to become one of the UK and Europe’s leading AV solution providers, Matt’s appointment signals our eagerness for further growth and our readiness to reach that next level.”

Nick Grecian, managing director of Gallowglass Group, added: “It has been great working closely with Matt for what doesn’t seem like two decades! He has contributed enormously to the development of the group – not just in the business development area – and takes with him a skill set and industry knowledge that few can match. The timing is absolutely right, and I am sure he will be a tremendous asset for our friends at Media Powerhouse.”

As a board director of Eventia, the live events trade association, between 2007 and 2014, Storey was responsible for broadening its membership base, attracting production companies and experiential agencies to join. He was actively involved in the merger between Eventia and IVCA (International Visual Communications Association), to form the new body EVCOM between 2013 and 2014.

Storey will remain in his Gallowglass Group role until the end of March.
