The event wristband provider, ID&C, has launched its 7th annual Grass Roots Festival Bursary, giving small-to-medium festivals in the UK a chance to receive £2,500 worth of security wristbands and credentials.
More than 50 festivals applied for last year’s bursary, which is open to any UK festival that has operated for eight years or less and has an overall attendance of up to 15,000 people.
Last year’s recipients, Elderflower Fields’ organiser, Stuart Balkham, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for us, not only did it enable money to be invested in other areas of the festival, but the ability to upgrade our wristbands improved security too.
“It really felt like the icing on the cake for us to be able to provide customers and crew with lovely fabric wristbands, and added a touch of quality to the festivalgoers’ experience.”
ID&C launched its Bursary in 2011, with LeeFest announced as the first recipients. The festival, famed for originating as a party in founder’s Lee Denny’s back garden, has since been joined by other winners SWN, Just So Festival, and Elderflower Fields.
ID&C’s marketing and business development executive, Laura Welstead, added: “Cultivating a festival year-on-year, come rain or shine is no mean feat, and all festivals large or small continue to feel the pinch. We created The Grass Roots Festival Bursary to support the UK’s smaller festivals as they grow, hopefully helping them to secure a successful future.”
