Grounded Events Company (GEC), organiser of Brighton Marathon Weekend, has launched the Brighton Trail Weekend, set to take place June 25-26, 2022.
Working closely with experienced local trail runners, Brighton and Hove City Council and South Downs National Park, GEC has created the trail weekend, which will comprise a marathon, 10k and youth distance event.
Tom Naylor, event director said: “We are extremely proud to launch Brighton Trail Weekend. This is set to be a truly unique trail running event with the marathon starting from the city centre and finishing in the South Downs. As a Brightonian, who grew up running on the local trails, I cannot wait to see it come to life. We very much hope to welcome new runners to Brighton but also the many that have previously taken part in Brighton Marathon Weekend, and offer them an amazing running experience in the beautiful South Downs National Park.
“Brighton Trail Weekend is set to be a positive addition to Brighton and Hove’s events calendar, helping to boost the local economy following a very challenging year. It will also build on the fantastic charity fundraising achievement of Brighton Marathon Weekend, giving participants the chance to raise much needed funds in support of their chosen charities.”
Brighton Trail Marathon will start on Brighton’s iconic seafront from the Brighton Marathon finish line. Runners will head straight into the South Downs National Park and discover rolling hills, chalky trails and Sussex woodlands before crossing the finish line at the event village in Stanmer Park.
Also taking place will be Brighton Trail 10k, set in Stanmer Park and the South Downs National Park.
Following in the footsteps of the Mini Mile Races at Brighton Marathon Weekend, Brighton Trail Kids will be a safe and fully supported trail run for under-17s, set alongside the Brighton Trail 10k in the woods and fields of Stanmer Park also.
