GL events will be supporting The Open this summer by providing temporary infrastructure solutions at the 148th Championship.
This installation builds upon the long partnership between The R&A and GL events UK.
As part of the GL event’s growing brief with The R&A, the business will deliver 11,500 seats, along with viewing and standing platforms for 3,500 spectators, across 20 grandstands at the event.
On top of this, GL events will also build The Open Clubhouse, a double-deck player’s facility, featuring physio, a gym, barber shop, dining, changing facilities, lounges and viewing balcony. This facility will include a separate creche, to be utilised by players families and children.
GL events will also be providing leader boards and players walkways, including the 1st tee players walkway and a 112m-long walkway connecting the players facility with the 1st tee, putting green and practice ground.
Scott Jameson, group managing director of GL events UK, said: “We’ve once again extended our footprint at the event to include the stunning players’ facility, supplementing our luxurious seating and experience-enhancing walkways, and viewing platforms.
“This is our company at its very best.”
The 148th Championship is taking place from July 14 until July 21 at the Royal Portrush.
