A 13-sided Elizabethan playhouse and an Elizabethan village have been constructed within the grounds of Blenheim Palace to enable a nine-week run of Shakespearean plays.

Raymond Gubbay, a division of Sony, and Lunchbox Theatrical Productions have worked together to bring Shakespeare to life on the Oxfordshire Estate. Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre, a pop-up immersive theatre experience, will run until September 7 at Blenheim Palace following a successful first outing in York in 2018.

Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Richard III and A Midsummer Night’s Dream are the four plays set to be performed within the palace grounds, in a theatre that took three weeks to build using 60 tonnes of scaffolding.
