Contractors who ignore schedules, bad Wi-Fi suppliers and events professionals who suddenly become incompetent when handed a radio were the top three gripes that organisers would love to be banished from events and festivals.

In a light-hearted session at Event Buyers Live, chaired by Andy Lenthall, general manager of the Production Services Association (PSA), event and festival organisers voiced their industry dislikes and voted to place three “items” into an events industry Room 101.

Event managers that don’t “get stuck in”, greenwash and events professionals that believe that what they are doing on-site is more important than anyone else all came close to being “banished” from events.

Organisers divulged their industry gripes; with unnecessary meetings, local authority tenders, licensing, overpriced venues and bogus medical service providers all making an appearance on the Room 101 shortlist.

Lenthall, who told organisers present that he was “cheaper than Frank Skinner”, chaired the session to listen to industry’s pet hates.

Of the 25 things that annoy people the most, contractors who ignore schedules and don’t read information packs, bad Wi-Fi suppliers and events professionals who suddenly become incompetent when handed a radio came top.
