This week has certainly been a stand out one for the Stand Out team, as we all experienced the comedown buzz from Event Buyers Live, our VIP industry event. The event was fantastic, with event professionals from across the county coming together to swap ideas, network and do business with one another. The event caused quite a stir across the industry, as the hashtag #EBL17 was trending on the first day of the event.

It’s back to business, or in my case, reporting as usual however. This week, shockwaves were felt internationally as 21 members of the Eurovision Song Contest’s organising team quit en masse. A letter communally published by the team attributed the leave to a new boss who didn’t give the team its regular autonomy over a number of decisions relating to the event.

Other announcements revealed that the MTV EMAs will be coming to London in 2017 for the first time in more than 20 years. The Mayor of London tweeted the event news on Tuesday. The event was last held in London in 1996 and was hosted by Robbie Williams.

Lastly, more news from the Mayor’s office, as Sadiq Khan also announced this week that The Women’s Tour will finish in London this year on June 11, 2017. He has also commissioned a free outdoor screening on the Iranian film, The Salesman, in Trafalgar Square, which more than 10,000 people are expected to attend.

As usual, if you have news that you want to shout about, email, call or tweet us!

Happy Friyay,
