Deadline: 12pm on June 1
Info: Cambridge City Council is looking for suppliers to deliver an outdoor ice rink together with a range of additional outdoor winter-themed entertainment. The contract will run for three years until 2015 yet it will initially run for one year with an option to extend.
From 2007 until 2010, an ice rink with a capacity of 200 people (35x25m/600sqm) was present on Parker’s Piece, Cambridge for four years and attracted 45,000 users over a period of eight weeks. This included a viewing platform, café and bar service, and a limited number of funfair rides. There was no ice rink in the city in 2011 and local businesses, residents and politicians have expressed their desire to see it return.
In addition, the council is keen to see the level of seasonal events in the city develop and is open to proposals for Winter markets, arts activity, live entertainment, fairground rides etc.
The tenderer is expected to demonstrate how the proposed ice rink and other entertainment/activities (the Events) delivers on the Council’s key priorities for culture in the city identified in the council’s Arts Strategy 2011-2014.
