A good seat is worth its weight in gold to spectators at live golf tournaments, with suppliers of temporary seating grandstands serving up new configurations and innovations to add to the audience experience. This film, featuring Rhodri Price, director of championship operations at The R&A, offers a customer perspective on GL events UK’s five-year partnership with The R&A’s Open Tournament which, for the 146th Open at Royal Birkdale, featured players’ bridges, improved sight-lines and a total of 24 individual spectator grandstands. These were integrated into the contours of the course to form arenas and create 12,000 tiered seats as well as standing viewing platforms for more than 2,000 spectators, and accessible platforms for wheelchair-users.
