Eco Events and drp group have launched SAVE – Sustainable Action for Venues and Events – a tool that will help companies looking to attain sustainability certification.
Revealed yesterday, at Eventia’s summer conference, SAVE is a “sustainability version” of the HSE poster that is visible in all workplaces. The poster offers practical advice in bullet form to act as a resource and reminder to employees.
The poster will be free to Eventia members and will be supported by an online portal, and possibly a mobile phone app, enabling organisers and suppliers to check the process which they should be adhering to whilst carrying out their daily tasks.
Access to the portal will be free and SAVE offers a step-by-step guide for event teams and a simple six stage process to follow.
Eco Events and drp group are now looking for feedback before the poster is printed. It will then be distributed to event businesses and workshops of those looking to improve their sustainability processes.

Stand Out is a must-read for the active buyer in the events marketplace. Boasting a circulation of 12,700 every issue, Stand Out is a trade magazine providing organisers, marketeers, agencies, local authorities and not-for-profit organisations with the information you need to make your event stand out from the competition.

Simply to say how happy I am to see this initiative gain traction and to have recently met Eco Event’s MD. Backed by her enormous energy and passion, this cannot fail to grow in terms of awareness and practice. Perhaps I should add that I’ve been a producer of Live Events for 25 years and still I am. Last week, I produced my first virtual event using an immersive 3D solution. The sense of presence was palpable. People joined from the Far East and UK; topics were discussed, agreements were made, we even managed some networking time to “get to know you”. And all without any travel carbons, and no more power than it takes to drive a laptop. That’s and eco-event all right! Live and Virtual in balance gives us choice. That’s “a good thing”. Live can get back to what it does best: inspiring through emotions (not boring with PPT). PS. Hoping to be producing the Site Design for a huge public festival…waiting for the call from client. So, don’t think I’m a virtual junkie!
Loved the poster.
Anything that improves sustainability wisely is to be welcomed and as a DMC representation company we and our DMCs would love to see more Event organisers requesting eco-friendly venues and CSR/Eco-Friendly activities for their Conferences and Incentives.
Fantastic! A pragmatic approach to sustainability at last. I have been working with EcoEvents for the last year, toward the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games on over 70 sites, using the above model has made management of the project simple. Can’t wait until the launch.
Hello and thank you for all your positive comments so far. We are simply custodians of SAVE and rely on industry feedback so that we deliver to meet your needs. So the more the better as far as we are concerned.
The Summer Eventia 2012 was focused on economic changes and challenges and I am confident that this will assist companies of all sizes to position themselves for an environmentally, socially and economically sensitive business world. Actively meeting policies is a business development strategy that is often overlooked but is essential for long term relational developments and successful collaborative working with our clients.
And when you hear that drpgroup saved over 100k last year through rolling out creative sustainable solutions throughout their organisation, some of which benefited not just drpgroup but also their clients…..
Will keep Caroline updated so she can update you….!!

Commendable to see initiatives such as this, which goes to illustrate the professionalism and commitment of our industry to leading the world in sustainable working practices for events.
A powerful tool that provides a real structure and journey for sustainable sustainability! Also, it seems, creates an opportunity for smaller companies to begin the process of improving their sustainability. This will of course have a hugely positive knock on effect to the larger companies they may be supplying to. A very exciting resource for the events industry.
