In a highly competitive procurement process, a range of companies submitted tenders to deliver technical and event management services for TfL.
The list of applicants was selected down to just four businesses on the basis of capability, economics and expertise. National events planning agency, mclcreate, was one of those chosen.
Over the next five years, TfL will make its calendar of conferences and events available to the four selected companies, which will then bid for each project.
TfL employs more than 25,000 workers, and the scope of events likely to be offered is broad, ranging from smaller functions to large-scale AGMs.
Tim Spencer, managing director of mclcreate, welcomed the news: “This is a great opportunity to work with one of the country’s key transport operators. We offer a one-stop shop for events, and are looking forward to combining our event management expertise and technical knowhow for TfL.”
The win represents mclcreate’s second partnership with a large transport organisation. The agency successfully bid in a similar tender process run by Network Rail in 2013.
mclcreate was formerly known as MCL Audio Visual. The company rebranded in January 2014, to reflect its new approach to events, supporting clients from conception through to implementation.
