Cheltenham Festival began yesterday (March 14), marking the beginning of the UK events season. GL Events, the temporary structures company, has provided a whole host of kit and infrastructure for the event, which is expected to welcome more than 260,000 people over the four-days.

This year, some changes have been made to the visitor experience, which will see racegoers restricted to four alcoholic drinks at a time. There will also be more water handed out on site to attendees too.

GL Events has provided the organiser of the renowned sporting event with 22,000 square metres of temporary structures, as well as three kilometres of lighting cable, 2,275 square metres of MDF walling, 1,800 metres of hot water pipework, 120 toilets and 14,000 square metres of carpet.

Furthermore, upon completion, the GL events team would have worked 15,560 man-hours to complete the project, which required 230 truck-loads to build and de-rig the huge job.
