It was game, set and match to GL events Seating and Stadia this weekend after the team installed grandstand seating for Stoke Park’s The Boodles Tennis Tournament and then, the minute the trophy was raised, converted the whole area into an arena for a weekend of music featuring Sir Elton John and Katherine Jenkins OBE in concert.
Tennis enthusiasts and corporate guests watched professionals hone their grass court skills during the five-day exhibition tournament before they headed to Wimbledon.
Once this year’s final had been played, and the celebrations of winner Dutchman Robin Hasse were complete, the GL events Seating and Stadia team stormed into action. The team had just three days to convert the area into a stage fit for two huge musical stars.
The whole court disappeared to be replaced with a stage ready for Sir Elton John on Saturday and Katherine Jenkins on Sunday, performing to 6,000 concertgoers.
Saturday’s concert was presented by Sports Aid, which supports young athletes looking to become part of the British team. Katherine’s concert on Sunday was to celebrate the classical soloists 34th birthday with an exclusive performance.
Chris Mansell, GL events Seating and Stadia Operations Director, said: “The concerts are a brand new addition to Stoke Park’s Boodles event. Time was tight but we planned the layout so we could utilise three sides of the tennis grandstands and then used the fourth to erect two VIP stands for the concerts. The overall result was three amazing events that went according to plan and were a credit to everyone involved.”
