Amazon is continuing to push into the live entertainment market with the announcement of Prime Live Events, a programme of intimate shows that give Amazon Prime members exclusive access to bands and artists.

The first Prime Live Event will take place on May 23; Blondie will play to 750 fans at Round Chapel, Hackney. According to the retail giant, the event is a sign of things to come with a number of venues having been carefully selected to create “unique” experiences for fans.

Prime Live Events will be filmed and made exclusively available on Prime Video internationally, allowing Prime members to watch the concerts at no extra cost to their membership.

The Prime Live Events schedule for June and July includes Alison Moyet playing her first London show of 2017 on June 12, Texas playing to 600 fans on June 16 at Porchester Hall and Katie Melua playing two dates on July 25 and 26 at Cadogan Hall.

“We want to offer Prime members the best live entertainment experience they’ve ever had by giving them the chance to see their favourite artists perform up close and personal in iconic and intimate venues,” explained Geraldine Wilson, general manager of Amazon Tickets. “We’re delighted to reveal our first line up of fantastic artists performing Prime Live Events in stunning venues to audiences of less than 800, and Prime members in the UK and internationally will have the chance to watch the performance on Prime Video.”
